Set within a characterful barn conversion in Hopwood, near Birmingham, this Chippendale timber Shaker kitchen was designed to feel naturally at home in its surroundings while introducing as much contemporary refinement as possible. The painted Sage Grey finish creates a calm, timeless foundation.

The clients wanted the warmth of timber without the maintenance of a solid wood surface, so we combined wood-effect laminate with a bespoke quartz island shaped around food preparation and seating. Neff appliances include an oven, combination oven, warming drawer, gas hob and telescopic extractor, while tall cabinetry makes full use of the barn’s generous ceiling height for valuable extra storage. As the room receives limited natural light, illumination became an important part of the design, with lighting introduced beneath the base and wall cabinetry and across the window area to brighten the space while adding atmosphere and depth.

We designed, supplied and installed the kitchen, and the clients have since returned to us for further projects, a welcome endorsement of both the result and the service behind it.
